As we closed Fiscal Year 2025–26 on June 30, I have been reflecting on the accomplishments of the past year while looking ahead to opportunities and challenges the next year will bring.
Since 2000, we have been helping job seekers launch careers leading to financial security. What started as a small grassroots organization serving just four individuals in a single administrative program has grown into a nationally recognized organization enrolling more than 210 participants across four employment programs – all designed to create pathways to meaningful careers.
Programs: Our programs remain in high demand, with rolling recruitment, hundreds of applications, and wait lists for both our healthcare and administrative tracks. We continue to measure outcomes carefully and ensure our results remain strong and equitable across programs. This past year, we exceeded our goals by helping more than 140 participants secure employment at an average starting wage of $23.44 per hour, while serving an additional 429 unique individuals through programs, alumni services, and our evening technology center.
Innovation: In early 2026, Opportunity Junction was selected to participate in an exciting trainee Stipend Pilot program through Tipping Point Community. The pilot, which was rolled out with our CNA and MA programs, reduces financial barriers that often prevent individuals from completing training. Combined with individualized financial coaching, the stipends are designed to improve both program completion and long-term financial stability. Participants receive weekly stipends throughout training and their job search.
Financial Position: Our financial position remains strong despite continued uncertainty in federal and public funding. As anticipated, we entered the new fiscal year with some funding gaps following the conclusion of several major contracts. We also recently learned that our Career Development Services contract will not be renewed due to broader budget reductions. While these changes present challenges, we are well-positioned to respond through careful financial management, healthy reserves, and the ongoing commitment of our community.
Looking Ahead: We are committed to adapting as workforce and funding needs evolve to continue serving those in our community who need us most. In the coming year, we aim to enroll 210 participants in our core programs, serve 120 alumni, and reach an additional 200 individuals through our evening Technology Center. We will continue refining our programs by extending our stipend pilot for another cohort, evaluating its impact, transitioning Career Services to our Antioch office, and introducing AI-informed learning components in our administrative program to better prepare participants for today’s workplace.
None of this would be possible without our dedicated staff, volunteers, Board of Directors, funders, employers, and community partners. Thank you for believing in our mission and investing in the people we serve. Together, we look forward to creating even more opportunities in the years ahead.
P.S. Stay tuned for our Annual Impact Report, debuting in a refreshed, more sustainable format. By reducing print and expanding digital access, we’re able to reinvest more directly into our programs while continuing to share the stories and outcomes that our support makes possible.
