Opportunity Junction recently welcomed five new staff members to the team. We’re pleased to introduce Alicia Quay, Cameron Hayes, Jamie Mackh, Kim Weaver, and Michael Caudillo.

Alicia Quay, Director of Programs

New Staff Alicia 250x350As the Director of Programs, Alicia’s primary role is to oversee OJ’s programs, provide leadership and support to program staff, and to ensure everything is running smoothly. She also directly supports OJ President and CEO Brianna Robinson.

Before coming to OJ, Alicia worked for Shepherd’s Gate Residential Program in Brentwood for almost five years. While there, she went to school and obtained her bachelor’s degree in health science and then her master’s degree in public health.

“My heart has always been to serve and help people obtain their goals and fulfill their dreams,” Alicia said. “I love nonprofits, and working for OJ has been amazing so far! I love everything about this organization and feel honored to be a part of this great team. Seeing our participants gain the skills and confidence they need to launch careers that lead to their financial security is one of the many things I love about this organization and is a mission that I align with.”

Outside of work, she loves spending time with her husband and kids, working out, hanging out in her backyard, date nights, game nights, going to concerts, cooking or trying new restaurants, going on road trips, and caring for her plants.

Cameron Hayes, Career Counselor

New Staff Cameron 250x350Cameron first started with OJ in 2017 and returned in 2023 as a career counselor. She supports clients as they overcome barriers to employment by working closely with them to discover their power and identify how to use that power to reach their goals. She enjoys counseling and facilitating workshops in a manner that is engaging and impactful. Cameron has a background in teaching etiquette, event coordination, workforce development, and working with youth.

“I’m motivated by the belief that the things that you are passionate about are not random – they are your calling,” Cameron said, noting that she was very intentional about working for OJ because she believes in its mission and wanted to give back to a community that has given her so much.

Outside of work, you can find Cameron dancing to her favorite albums, spending time with family, and trying a new project on Pinterest. She also has a passion for scrapbooking and traveling.

Jamie Mackh, Director of Finance

New Staff Jamie 250x350Before joining Opportunity Junction, Jamie worked for many years in the corporate world and even started his own business, Numb3r Solutions, with the goal of helping independent business owners and nonprofits thrive. However, a move from Chicagoland to the Bay Area to be closer to extended family presented him with the time to reassess his priorities.

“While I’m definitely a numbers guy, my passion is using my professional experience, knowledge, and skills to serve people,” Jamie explained. “I really wanted to use my powers for good – so to speak – to work in support of a nonprofit organization with a mission I believe in.”

His search for just the right organization led him to OJ. Jamie said he is thrilled to be working alongside a great team and to be contributing to the financial health and sustainability of an organization that serves people in the community in which he now lives.

“Hearing the bell ring when a graduate gets a new job, seeing that person light up with pride, and joining in as the OJ community celebrates is incredibly moving,” he said.

When not at work, Jamie enjoys spending time with family and friends and exploring beautiful Northern California with his wife, Kristi, and canine family member, Henry. He can also often be found dreaming longingly of sailing the British Virgin Islands.

Kim Weaver, Manager of Personal Development

New Staff Kim 250x350Kim’s introduction to OJ began as a volunteer in 2007. When she joined the team earlier this year, she brought with her 15 years of experience as a certified life coach and case manager, along with a background in nonprofit leadership. Kim is driven to help people transform their lives and perspectives by utilizing her words and personal experiences.

“I believe that both my positive and negative experiences have contributed to making me a strong and resilient individual,” she said.

As manager of personal development, she holds dual roles. She teaches trainees personal essential skills and serves as their primary case manager, providing resources, support and coaching to ensure their success.

Kim believes in the saying, "Find a job you love, and you'll never work a day in your life." She said that working at OJ has allowed her to fulfill that belief. She finds great joy in assisting individuals who are seeking to ignite their hidden potential.

When she is not working, Kim enjoys spending time with family and fur baby, traveling, and cooking. She also loves fashion and enjoys dressing up, because “when you look good, you feel good, and you can do good.”

Michael Caudillo, Computer Skills Instructor

New Staff Michael 250x350Before stepping into his role as the computer skills instructor for OJ’s Administrative Careers Training (ACT) program, Michael was a student himself! While going through the program in late 2019, he was recognized as a strong tutor, who often helped his fellow students.

He later became a teaching assistant before assuming the instructor role this year. His day-to-day activities include teaching Microsoft programs to the trainees of the ACT class and helping them understand how to use the programs in their daily lives and future careers.

“What made me want to work at OJ was the fact that I would be helping people in my community while stepping outside my comfort zone and expanding my skills to meet their needs,” Michael shared.

He said his family motivates him to do well inside and outside of the office. “I want to provide for them and keep them happy,” Michael continued.

And he has a creative side – he is passionate about art, and one of his hobbies is miniature painting.
