After surviving and escaping an abusive relationship, this single mother of two young daughters spent nearly a decade in survival mode—doing whatever it took to support her girls, her whole world.

tiffany and girlsTiffany first found a sense of purpose working as a personal trainer. “Helping people change their lives for the positive brought me fulfillment, especially during times when I felt most lost,” she says. But the work was grueling—split shifts starting as early as 4 a.m. and returning again in the evenings. The pay was inconsistent, benefits were nonexistent, and the few hours she spent at home left her drained, with little energy to be present for her daughters.

“At the time, I leaned on my mom—my best friend—to help me raise my girls,” she recalls. “I love my family. They have always been my biggest supporters.” Even as a child, Tiffany had been drawn to caring for others, and her parents always supported that instinct. She remembers asking her mom to pull the car over so she could help a stray dog—bathing it, caring for it, and taking it to the local shelter so it could be (successfully) reunited with its family.

“I’ve always wanted to help people and animals,” she says. “That’s just who I am.”

For years, self-doubt held her back from pursuing her dreams. “I told myself I was too old to go back to school. Not smart enough. Not good enough.” And still, she knew there was more for her—and more for her daughters.

With encouragement from a friend, and a great deal of courage, she applied to Opportunity Junction’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program. For the first time in years, she wasn’t just getting by—she was building the foundation for the next chapter of her life. She quickly realized the program offered more than a certification. The wraparound supports, dedicated teachers, and encouraging environment gave her confidence she hadn’t felt in years. She continued to pray that God would lead her to where she was meant to be next.

Since graduating, TiffanTiffany 250x350y has joined Opportunity Junction’s staff as a Professional Development Instructor—helping people and continuing the thread that has run through her story from the very beginning. In her new role, she supports students as they launch their careers, understanding firsthand how much guidance and encouragement they need. She treasures the opportunity to build relationships and be the support her students can lean on.

Today, Tiffany helps others reach their potential at work while being a present, loving mother to her thriving daughters. “One day, I will continue pursing further advancement in the healthcare field (Radiology or Respiratory Therapy) but right now I am doing what I am supposed to be doing,” she says. She makes it to cheer competitions and softball games, drives her girls to and from school, and has the energy to help with homework in the evenings. In her spare time, she also continues to work as a practicing CNA.

Her journey is living proof to her daughters that you can pursue your dreams at any stage of life. She showed them that. “They’re proud of me,” she says, “and that means the world. I did this for myself, but I also did this for them—my world.” Helping others has always been at the heart of who she is, and it continues to guide everything she does.
