Antioch, May 15, 2024 – Opportunity Junction celebrated the expansion of its services with the grand opening of the Healthcare Career Pathways Training Center.

Ribbon Cutting LabThe ribbon cutting ceremony, which took place on May 15, 2024, celebrated the opening of this new facility, where the organization will launch a new Medical Assistant (MA) Training program on June 3, 2024.

Opportunity Junction’s acquisition and preparation of the new classroom and lab space represents a significant investment in addressing local healthcare workforce needs. Made possible by Community Benefit Project funding championed by Congressman Mark DeSaulnier, this initiative helps meet the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals while fostering diversity in the healthcare workforce. The program will train and graduate cohorts of medical assistants who are in demand in hospitals, clinics, and medical offices of all sizes.

"We're not just helping people find jobs; we're transforming careers and lives," said Brianna Robinson, President & CEO of Opportunity Junction. "Since 2000, we've been building foundations for better futures. Our Healthcare Career Pathway addresses the urgent need for healthcare professionals. With a quarter of Californians projected to be over age 60 by the next decade, we're facing a critical shortage of healthcare workers. Our expansion, thanks to the support from Congressman DeSaulnier's office, is a bold step towards addressing this challenge and helping individuals go from a good job to a great career with a better salary and benefits in jobs they’re proud of."
