new grants

We are proud and grateful to announce the following new grants and funding partnerships:

Marathon Petroleum Corporation: A third grant from Marathon Petroleum Foundation Inc. will go toward supporting Opportunity Junction’s Administrative Careers Training (ACT) program, which enhances our participants’ career possibilities and establishes their credentials with employers.

As the philanthropic affiliate of Marathon Petroleum Corporation, Marathon Petroleum Foundation Inc.’s mission is to strengthen communities and help make people’s lives better.

CSAA: With a grant funding focus on enhancing economic opportunity, racial equity, and social justice, CSAA Insurance Group provided Opportunity Junction with a second grant to support our general operating expenses. CSAA staff have also become ongoing volunteers, helping our participants with mock interviews in preparation of future job interviews.

Anonymous Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation: The Anonymous Fund at the East Bay Community Foundation issued an unrestricted grant to support Opportunity Junction's programs. The East Bay Community Foundation partners with donors, social movements, and the community to eliminate structural barriers, advance racial equity, and transform political, social, and economic outcomes for all who call the East Bay home.

Ahlsten Foundation: The Ahlsten Foundation recently awarded Opportunity Junction a third grant in as many years, providing an unrestricted grant that the organization will use to address critical needs in eastern Contra Costa County. The Ahlsten Foundation has a passion and a vision for a better world through the support of education, the improvement of health, and the alleviation of human suffering.

Community Development Block Grant (CDBG): The CDBG programs of Contra Costa, Antioch, Pittsburg, and Concord awarded contracts to support Opportunity Junction programs this coming year. The CDBG program, funded through the federal department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), fights poverty through its support of housing programs, public services, economic development, and public infrastructure. The Concord CDBG program is supporting our Certified Nursing Assistant training partnership at Mt. Diablo Adult Education, while Antioch, Pittsburg, and Contra Costa are supporting our Administrative Careers Training program. Contra Costa is also supporting career services at the Bay Point SparkPoint, and Antioch is also supporting our Antioch Technology Center.
