surge in demand In 2019, we launched a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program as the first branch of our Healthcare Career Pathways (HCP) initiative. The program, which runs in partnership with Mt. Diablo Adult Education in Concord, has graduated 3 cohorts of successful CNA's! This April, our Antioch office will become home to the expansion of our Healthcare Career Pathways initiative, bringing more healthcare training opportunities to East Contra Costa. We are thrilled to add CNA training to our home office where we have been offering Administrative Careers Training since our launch in 2000.

An aging population brings with it a greater need for healthcare services. With an increasing number of healthcare jobs, there is an opportunity for job seekers to enter the field earning a higher wage and accessing a pathway to greater economic success! This starts with a CNA Training Program as a first step in creating a healthcare career pathway.

John Muir Community Health Fund is continuing its support for the initiative, and the expansion has drawn additional support. Cookies Dispensary, as part of its Antioch-approved Social Equity program, will provide funding for the Antioch expansion.

Our CNA program model incorporates wrap around services including one-on-one case management, food and transportation support, job placement assistance, and professional skills. Employers engaged in the development process will be part of the actual training, ensuring that students receive the most relevant and patient-centered education. Most importantly, the support in this program doesn’t end with the first job. Students will be supported and encouraged in continuing education opportunities as they launch their healthcare careers.

Our classes in partnership with MDAE have been a great success. Just this month, the Master Plan on Aging was unveiled, and we were featured in the Local Playbook on slides 34 and 35. This is a tremendous honor, and we are proud that the state of California believes we are a model for Caregiving that Works. We are hiring! If you are an LVN or RN and interested in joining our expansion initiative, we would love to hear from you!
