You can make a difference in one person's journey from poverty to self-sufficiency. Join our team of dedicated mentors!
Who We Are: Opportunity Junction has provided job training and placement in Antioch since 2000. Although our name is a mouthful, our mission is simple: To provide low-income Contra Costa residents with the computer and life skills that will enable them to become economically self-sufficient.
What We Do: We focus on helping low-income individuals with multiple barriers to employment gain the skills and confidence they need to obtain employment leading to economic self-sufficiency.
The Mentor Role: The Opportunity Junction Mentor Program is designed to provide each participant a role model for occupational success, foster the development of a personal and supportive individual relationship, and promote personal growth through the facilitation of new experiences.
The Commitment: We ask our volunteer mentors to commit to spending 8 hours per month with their mentee for one year. This may include weekly lunches and one monthly community activity with your protégé.
The Application Process: All volunteer mentors will attend an orientation session, complete an application, participate in a one-on-one interview with one of our staff members, and attend a mentor training.
